Weeds
A Collection of Botanical Art by artist Diana Oxlade
Diana Oxlade, who is a book illustrator, worked together with her husband Edwin Oxlade, a botanist, to write and illustrate the book “50 Weeds”. We are very fortunate to have a collection of a large portion, 21 pieces, of these beautiful botanical illustrations in CUH, kindly on loan from Dr Abdul Bulbulia, gracing the walls along the main concourse of the hospital.
Despite the dictionary definition that a weed is 'a valueless plant growing wild, especially one that grows on cultivated ground to the exclusion or injury of the desired crop', Diana has always admired and loved weed, which are really just wild flowers by another name.
